Royal Couple Prince William And Kate Visits Kaziranga National park
India is famous for the species of it’s Flora and Fauna all over the world and is also known for it’s wildlife reserves and National Parks. Among all the National Parks in India, the Kaziranga National Park holds a very unique position as it is home to the great one – horned rhinoceroses, a very rare species and for this uniqueness, it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located in the Assam state of India. The establishment of this place dates to the 1900’s and also has an interesting reason behind it. the wife of the Viceroy of India – Mary Curzon was very fond of the natural wildlife if India and was also a wildlife explorer. When she heard about the area of Kaziranga, she travelled there to see the famous Rhinos. But when she reached there, she could not see any Rhinos even after several efforts and she requested her husband to establish a reserve so that the species could be protected. The worst enemy of Rhinos all over the world are the Poachers who hunt them down in order to have their horn which is of high value in the market and this has led to a decline in their species. However in India the Government Of Assam passed the Assam(Rhinoceros) bill which imposed very strict measures against the poachers. Apart from the One Horned Rhino, Kaziranga is also home to other wildlife species like the wild Asiatic water buffalo, Gaur, Sambar, Indian muntjac and other several animals. Kaziranga has also been a place of attraction for bird watchers and it is home to unique birds like the lesser white-fronted goose, black necked stork, the blyth’s kingfisher, Dalmatian pelican can be found there. The visitors to the park have to book the safaris in advance. The safaris can be done on an elephant’s back, in a jeep or in other 4 wheeler vehicles however the elephant is the first choice of the visitors as they get spellbound when they observe the natural beauty of the place on the back of a gigantic elephant. As the river Bhramaputra flows beyond the danger level during the rainy season from June to August it is most suitable to visit the place during November to March. A survey of tourists was done and it was found that 80 percent found rhino sightings most enjoyable among all of their previous wildlife experiences.
