Religious festivals occupy an important place in the life of every Indian. The incarnation days of Gods, Goddesses and saints are still celebrated with lot of reverence and enthusiasm. One such festival where Indians and entire India participates is the festival of Krishna Janamashtami. This is the day when the supreme Lord Krishna took birth in human form thousands of years ago. This festival is celebrated on the 8th day of Hindu calendar month of ‘Bhadrapad’ during the eighth phase of the declining moon. Everywhere in India the festivities begin around ten days before the actual festival. It is so widely celebrated and so intensely celebrates which makes it difficult to decide that where it is celebrated with most high level of passion. The temples are decorated with garlands and festoons of the leaves of Ashoka tree, special prayers are performed, during the day people keep fasts and at midnight the main ceremony – the birth of Lord Krishna is celebrated. This is a great festival in the ‘Brij’ region of Central India and more closely at Vrindavan, Mathura, Barsana, Govardhan and Nandgaon. India has a long tradition of the religion of universal love and brotherhood. This is something which is India’s own product and it has not learned the religion and spirituality from anybody. For time immemorial India saints and philosophers have travelled throughout the world and delivered the message of love and non violence. Towards the year ---- one Indian saint AC Bhaktivedanta Srila Prabhupada of Gaudiya Vaishnana Sampradaya taking it’s inspiration of Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu took the Krishna Devotion and his teaching to the West and with this a new movement of universal love and peace came into existence popularly known as the International Society for Krishna Consciousness ( ISKON). Srila Prabhupad most of America, UK and many countries of Eastern Europe and explained the people to be in love with humanity , to be spiritual , to be non violent following the path of Lord Krishna which he explained in Bhagwat Gita. Millions around the globe have found the answers of their questions about life , it’s objective and their problems with their association with the ISKON Bhakti movement.
